Coach Bios:


Ron Gale - Boy's Coach & Board Member (Rwgale1@gmail.com):
Ron was on one of the first teams that played in Monmouth County, when he started in 5th Grade for Rumson Country Day School.  After grammar school Ron was captain of his high school defense sqaud at The Hill School in Pennsylvania where he was All-State.  Ron then went on to play for Tufts University, starting as a freshman.  After college Ron played for Brine Lacrosse (equipment manufacturer). Ron later resettled in Monmouth County and founded the Maverick Lacrosse League.  Ron currently resides in Colts Neck with his wife Kari and two children.

Thanks is extended to all the staff members, whose bios follow and who helped build this program, and endeavor to improve upon it annually.

John Devlin - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
JD is originally from Fair Haven and started playing lacrosse at Rumson Country Day School.  He is a graduate of St. Mark's  in MA, where he was defenseman on two time ISL league champions.  He  started on defense for Dickinson College (PA) for four years and was captain of the team in his final two seasons.  He continues to play actively for TROG lacrosse in Rumson.  He resides in Locust with his wife Liz and four sons. 

Jerry Farrell - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
Jerry grew up upstate New York and attended Horseheads High School where he was captain of his high school lacrosse team.  He went on to Herkimer Community College to play and was captain of the National Championship Team in 1988.  He was also named to the All American team and defenseman of the year in 1988.  He was then given a full athletic scholarship to attend St. Johns University and was captain of the team his senior year.  He continued his education at St. Johns and was an Assistant Coach for one season.  Jerry currently plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson and resides in Colts Neck with his wife Shannon and their three children.

Kevin Gilfillan - Boy's Coach & Board Member:
Kevin grew up in one of the hot beds of lacrosse, Huntington Long Island, and played midfield for Walt Whitman H.S. where he was Captain and an All County selection his Junior and Senior year's. He was granted a scholarship to the University of Delaware where he played midfield for 2 years and then tranferred to play at St. John's University where he graduated in 1992. He then was offered a job with Brine, Inc. where he worked on the camp circuit, developement of product, played for the Brine lacroose club team and headed up their West Coast office to bring lacrosse to the next level out West. He is now currently a partner in a sports management sales agency and the agency currently represents Reebok with the local professional teams in the metro NY area.
Kevin currently plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson, and resides in Holmdel,NJ with his wife Jennifer and two children, Ryan and Erin

John Schaefer - Boy's Coach:
John grew up in Glen Cove, NY (Long Island) where he played lacrosse and was captain his junior and senior year and was selected all-conference/division both years.  He was recuited by Rutgers and played for 2 year (1986-87).  He played for several club teams out of the Huntington, LI area in the late 80s and early 90s. John lives in Colts Neck and plays for the TROGs men's team based out of Rumson.

Mike Sabol - Boy's Coach:
Mike grew up in Summit, NJ and played defense for perrenial state power Summit High School.  Mike continued his lacrosse career at Salisbury and was a member of their DIII National Championship team in the mid-1990's.  He is also an active player with TROG lacrosse.  Mike lives in Tinton Falls with his wife and two children.

Bryant Denny - Boy's Coach:
Bryant grew up in Fair Haven and started playing lacrosse at Rumson Country Day School.  He was player on the first team ever fielded by RFH High School in the late 1990's.  He continued playing in college at Wheaton College as a goalie.

Matt Cooke - Boy's Coach:
Matt is originally from the Syracuse area and played collegiately at Boston College in the mid-1990's.  He currently lives in Monmouth Beach with his wife and three sons.

Chip Rogers - Boy's Coach:
Chip was a member of original team at Rumson Country Day School along with Ron Gale.  Chip played in high school at the Hill School in PA. He coached the RCDS team for a number of years in the early 1980's and was one of the original coaches when Mavericks was founded. He is graduate of the University of Miami and a life long resident of Monmouth Beach.

Rory Gale - Boys Coach:
Rory played on the first Maverick team in 2004, and represents our first player to come back to us as a coach.  Rory after the Mavericks in 2008, went on to become First Team All Prep at the Peddie School in Hightown, NJ.  Rory also played for Tri-State Lacrosse for a number of years, and currently plays for two summer college league teams. He will be playing for Boston College next year. In addition to coaching for the Mavericks, Rory runs Native Lacrosse, a group of college players providing private lessons in NJ.  His lessons are extended to Maverick team players.
